6 months for Jackbaby!

Sweet Fancy Moses, our baby is 1/2 a year old...WOWZA!  He NEVER ceases to amaze me and I find myself wondering daily how we got so lucky to have such a sensational little man as our own.  I did not get to go to the doctor with him today because I was a sicky vicky last week and had to miss work (danged pukies!) and couldn't spare anymore days...pregnancy/ maternity leave wiped out every last one.  Boo.  I was literally upset all day because I don't want to miss one second of anything to do with him!  Jackman went with his Daddy and his NanNan (Nanny - my mom), and got another round of immunizations and a flu shot as well.  As usual, he handled everything like a champ, per their report and constant updates through the appointment and he was also flirting and putting on a show for everyone there (per usual as well!).

STATS - Jack Robert Thomas - 6 months
WEIGHT: 16 lbs, 1 oz. (+2lbs, 12 ounces from 4 month checkup, 25th percentile)
HEIGHT: 27 INCHES!!! (+almost 3" from 4 month checkup {I rounded the last measurement up}, 75th percentile)
HEAD: 43 1/2 cm (+1 1/2 cm from 4 month checkup, 50th percentile)

LIKES/ DISLIKES: likes everyone, everything, and pretty much everywhere.  New update: he LOVES bananas now...yes!  We figured out that I made them when they weren't ripe enough so now I wait until they're looking like they're about ready to go into some banana bread and he can't get enough and I can't get them in fast enough...they're like his candy!  So, super score on that! Other likes/ loves: laying on his tummy and playing; eating his toes; sucking his thumb (right one only, never the left); playing in his gym, exersaucer, play area, Bumbo, and jumper; night-night time; smiling; BEING OUTSIDE...see THIS post; Mommy and Daddy's iPhones; everything!
Dislikes: not much...being sleepy, I guess?  He's not too keen on the act of someone leaving somewhere either because he wants to go too.

FIRSTS: sitting up in a tri-pod stance without support; sitting outside IN the grass; riding in his stroller like a big boy (facing the front way); eating avocado; flu-shot; petting a dog; meeting Mommy's students.

CLOTHES: mostly 6 months; some 9 months in Polo and sleepers.  Our main issue is that he is a long boy, but a lean boy so to fit the length, clothes will be big in the body.

DIAPERS: size 2 Huggies.  We could possibly move up to a size 3, but we have a box of 2s left so we'll be sticking with them for a bit.

TRICKS: Jackman can now sit up in a tri-pod like stance without support and can sit momentarily in a regular way without support too.  My goal is to have him all the way sitting by his 6 month pics in 2 weeks. I really think it's doable! He can get himself up on his forearms and his belly is slightly off the ground, but he's quite the scooter.
Jack is also strangely into feeling up people's faces and grabbing their noses.  All of us around here have a few love bites (scratches) from our precious Toots!  He's also pretty much into holding his bottle on his own, but after a while, he gets lazy and then has you do it.

EATING: he's a good eater, yo!  He LOVES apples (especially now in this great apple season!), pears, bananas, prunes, peas, carrots, and his cereal.  He HATES: sweet potatoes, squash, avocado, green beans, and will eat peaches, but is always sick the day after we eat them.  He now gets ONE ready-made formula bottle a day as breastmilk production on my part has gone a bit haywire with me going back to work (as has our pump - it hit the fritz) but even with these deterrents, I still REFUSE to give it up yet!  Thus, every other bottle besides ONE ready-made formula bottle is breastmilk each day and it's about 5-5.5 oz. every 3 hours.  In the morning, he'll have cereal mixed with a fruit and then will have a fruit and vegetable in the afternoon.

SLEEPING: he sleeps through the night, every night still!  If he wakes up in the mornings before Brad goes to get him to take him to Nanny's, he'll just babble, giggle, and coo to himself in his crib.  Coincidentally, we've had to remove the wedges we once used, blankets, and his sheep sound machine from the crib because he is allllll over the place in his sleeping and when he wakes up.

PERSONALITY: He's the sweetest boy, EVER!  Jack is extremely easy going and adaptable in ANY situation pretty much - just a go with the flow kinda guy!  He is seriously one chipper chipmunk too...holy cow, how?  Ha!  Jackbaby smiles at everyone and everything and also lets out this hilarious very high-pitched scream all. the. time now and does it to get your attention.  He squeals, coos, babbles, giggles, and screams constantly...he's a serious motor mouth, but we don't have any words just yet and he will initiate talking with you first, instead of waiting on you to talk to him.  Our boy's a social butterfly, yo!
If you watch while you mouth basic words to him like "ma-ma", you can see him watching your mouth as he mimics the movement with his.  He responds with a giggle when you tell him to "get him" towards objects and will also "get" your neck if you do it to his first.

SCHEDULE: pretty much the same as listed last month, so see THIS post.

NICKNAMES: this month, we are changing it up since it is October and we are calling him our Booface or "Jack-o'-lantern"...but siiiiince that doesn't roll off the tongue as easily, we still go with Toots, Bubby, Jackman, Baby Jack, Jackbaby, Boo, etc.

FUN FACTS: instead of Jackbaby and Mommy sending pics every morning, it is Jackman and Daddy who send good morning pics to Mamaw and me.  Every morning, I look forward to my picture texts from my Booface as they make my day!
My students have been DYING to meet Jack so I promised them that if they made good decisions through the week, then he would come.  Thus, 2 Fridays ago, B had off work so he brought him up to school to meet my kiddos.  They loved him and of course, our little social butterfly really put on a show for everyone and turned up the charm...turned it waaaay up actually!  Another thing, is that I've been worried about how Jack would respond to other kids since he isn't around them much seeing as how he is with my Mom all day...well, he showed me I need not worry because he is just fine!  Our neighbor came over with his 18month old the other day when we were hanging out outside and it was Jack who initiated talking, smiling, babbling, and interacting with her!
