5 months for Jackbaby!

it IS hard to believe, but yes, Jackbaby is 5 months old today...ahhh! He is getting so big!  Now, I know I only have 4 others to go off of beyond this, but it has been the best month yet!  Our little monster is so sweet and so, soooo happy, and so, soooo f-uuu-uu-nnnn-yy!  We have such a blast with him and cannot imagine life before there was a Jackman...we literally say that daily!

STATS: Jack Robert Thomas - 5 months
WEIGHT: not sure, we do not go to the doc until next month but our guess is about 14.5lbs - 15lbs.  He's seriously chunking up now that we're on the solid foods, yo!
HEIGHT: 26 in.
HEAD: 48cm

LIKE/ DISLIKES: um, what doesn't he like?!?  Well, to be fair, he HATES bananas...with a capital B-A-N-A-N-A-S, but loves anything and/ or anyone else!  He is so "go with the flow", it's unbelievable so I'll just name his loves: his new jumper from his Mamaw and Papaw; his exersaucer; his "Scout" dog that is customized for him; getting baths; playing with anyone around him smiling (like Buddy the Elf, it's his favorite...LOVE!); interacting with others; going "night-night"; sitting up like a big boy; his lion; laying on his tummy and playing; etc., etc., etc.!!!

FIRSTS: solid foods (cereal, apples, pears, bananas, sweet potatoes, peas, green beans, peaches, prunes, carrots); overnight trip to Mamaw and Papaws (he was UN-BE-LIEVABLY tremendous!); playing in his jumper; staying with Nanny all day while Mommy is back at work; Pioneer Festival; full playtime with his BFF Holden (they held hands...it was PRECIOUS!); first UK vs. UofL experience (well, outside of thew womb - read about last year's HERE); finding/ eating his feet!

gahhhh, he is just beyond adorbs :)

in his precious attire for his first UK vs. UofL game

CLOTHES: our average size boy wears average size clothes for his age: all 3-6 months and some 6 months too :)

DIAPERS: Huggies: Size 2.

TRICKS: Jackman is now a supported sitter and is close to being an independent sitter.  He also has found his feet and is pulling on them and getting them to his mouth ALL. THE. TIME.  He fully holds his head up now which makes it much, much easier to carry him around!  He smiles ALL. THE. TIME., recognizes people in his life, interacts with others, plays with his toys, and is learning cause/ effect of many things around him.  He is so inquisitive and everything continues to go in the mouth!  I always call him my little talk-show host because he is all up in everybody's business and loves being in the heart of the matter.  Also, he oooos, coooos, babbles, giggles, rambles incoherently, and squeals NON-STOP (literally).

EATING:  We're eating solid foods!  He pretty much loves all that he's allowed to have at this juncture except for bananas.  Seriously?  What kid does not like bananas?!?  Oh yes...of course...Brad Thomas's spawn.  We started with cereal over a month ago and have introduced new foods in a 4-5 day rotation since.  Peas are his favorite (funny, because along with green beans, they're my favorite veggie too!); but he also L-O-V-E-S apples and pears.  When he wakes up, he gets a bottle, then he has cereal and we mix it with a little fruit for a better taste.  Then, he has a fruit and/ or veggie after his afternoon bottle.  Milk wise, he drinks about 24-28oz. of breastmilk daily.

SLEEPING: I hope I'm not jinxing a magnificent thing here, but our Toots man sleeps through the night, all night...EVERY night.  Real Talk.  He's too legit to quit.  Like he goes to bed between 7-8 and wakes around 7:30-8 the next morning at the earliest all night every single night, legit.  This kid ain't playing in the sleeping business.  He KNOWS when it's bed time too and is just so happy to get in his bed...it. is. crazy!  We were worried with me going back to work that he would get out of whack with his great sleeping, but it really hasn't affected him in the slightest bit.  B drives him to my parents' house every morning and waits until the last possible second to get him out of bed and put him in his carrier and head over and he is just as delightful as ever.  He even has a photo sesh every morning and is still pleasantly patient in getting his bottle.
hang on a sec, just gotta play my leg guitar real quick...

PERSONALITY: So, sooo sweet.  So, soooo funny, and so, soooo AMAZING!  It is obvious he knows who people are in his life and responds accordingly.  He's just PERFECT...smiley, smiley, smiley and happy, happy, happy!  How on earth did we swing this?  We are not the least bit deserving of his fabulousness!

SCHEDULE:  His schedule has changed quite a bit with me going back to work ...but you wouldn't notice in his temperament or sleeping.
Weekdays:
6:50/ 7:00a.m.: wake-up - Daddy takes him to Nanny and Poppy's
7:30: Breakfast bottle (5oz.)
9:00: cereal with fruit, then nap
10:30: second morning bottle (5oz.)
1:30: Lunch bottle (5oz.), then nap
3:00: veggie or fruit
4:30: afternoon bottle (5oz.), then nap
6:00: veggie or fruit
7:30/ 8:00: bedtime bottle (5oz.), then bed.

**Obviously, we have a 5month old...no day is the same and times are all subject to change.  This is just the average.  If there are days in which he tries something new, then that is the only solid food he has beyond cereal as rice cereal and breastmilk (duh) are the only constants in his daily diet.  Somedays, he has 4 naps, others he has 3...it just depends on his mood, temperament, and attention with toys.

NICKNAMES: Toots, Bubby, Jackrabbit, Wooster, Baby Jack, J-Man, Cookie Monster

FUN FACTS: Jackbaby now stays with his Nanny all day everyday while Mommy is back to teaching and he loves it!  He is crazy about his "NanNan"!  He still sends his Mamaw a picture text every morning, but now Daddy gets it together instead of Mommy, so then he also sends one to me too (LOVE!).  Baby Jack also sits with a study pillow against our ottoman and plays with his toys...he loves it!

WHAT'S COMING UP ON OUR SCHEDULE:
Aunt Beff and Uncle Cheeky's birthday (Sept. 10th)
Chicago and Wrigley Field for Cubs vs. Cardinals - we are the very first row right behind home-plate! (Sept. 20th - 23rd)
and not too much else and we are so, so, sooooo pumped!  We see many a family weekends in our future!

Mommy Moment(s):
This going back to work thing is NO joke.  I have had some serious, serious breakdowns.  I think it's because I had pretty much resided to the fact that I'd be staying home with the Toots man and hadn't mentally (or emotionally) prepared myself.  Going from being with my little ball of amazingness all day every day to only a few hours in the late afternoon to early evening is tough, tough, tough and not for the faint of heart in part of the matter.  I love my students and I love my school, but I love my little man more.  I am literally watching the clock and counting the minutes until that school bell rings and I get to leave to pick up my handsome boy!  I must reemphasize that I love, love, love my school and love my co-workers, it's just that I miss my sweet little man so, so much, yo and this working Mommy thing is so, so hard.  I reeeeally underestimated it!
