7 months for Jackbaby!

Well, our boy is growing like a weed, y'all!  And quite stylish while he's at it, I might add :)  Not that that's important, but dang, he sho is cute, yo!  Today, November 3rd, marks Jackbaby's 7 month milestone and lemme just tell ya, he has DOMINATED this past month!  It is crazy and reality has completely sunken in...this is MY child and holy Toledo, is he AMAZING, or what?!?  I do not know what we did to deserve such an incredible blessing, but I owe my life in gratitude for this truly exquisite gift.

STATS - JACK ROBERT THOMAS
~7 MONTHS~
WEIGHT: 17lbs, 9oz
(we know this because little stinker got the sickies on his very first Halloween and had to go to the doctor, BUT, he's up a pound and a half from his last visit one month ago!)
HEIGHT: @29 inches
(yes folks, our weed has sprouted just about 2 inches in 1 month)
HEAD: 44 cm

LIKES: being outside (this is a SERIOUSLY love for him - we are are outside as much as humanly possible, weather permitting); his owl baby; "jumpy-jumps" in his jumper; his Mommy and Daddy; the ELMO song --> see it HERE (seriously, he dances along and squeals...he LOVES it!); playing with anything; being the center of attention; going 'night-night', squealing at the top of his lungs.

FIRSTS: visiting pumpkin patches; saying his first words ('Da-da', ba-ba, ma-ma); sitting up; semi-crawling; trying angel food cake; ear infection; having only formula; staying all day with only Poppy; swinging on the swingset at NanNan and Poppy's; throwing up (and no, not spit-up) ALLLLLL over Mommy (for this lady who's super scared of vomit...it was most definitely a sight, I tell ya!); learning to use a sippy cup; HALLOWEEN!

CLOTHES: 6 months and some 6-9 months.  Our issue is that he is quite long, but doesn't fill out outfits weight wise...soooo...that's a struggle in finding things that will not swallow him, but will fit his length.

DIAPERS: size 3 Huggies

TRICKS: Jackman is ON. THE. MOVE!  He gets up on all 4s and can move a foot, then hand, then foot, then hand again and the falls to his chest.  Then, he can scoot along as far as he'd like.  He basically does a raised, modified army crawl, but it gets him where he wants to go!  We're within days of him fully figuring it out and then, WATCH OUT for the Toots man!  He is also a champion at sitting up and we've now had to mount the camera to his video monitor because he discovered it and knocked it off the crib all. the. time.  Now, he just peeks out at us over the bumpers and it is probably the most precious thing ever.  He also will grab your face and smile at you and then put his mouth on your nose or cheek and think he's done you the best service ever.  It's his, "HELLO!" and it's absolutely precious!

EATING: He still takes about 28oz of his milk which is completely formula now, instead of breastmilk. Yes, I dried up much, muuuuuch sooner than I anticipated so we had to adjust accordingly.  It's still a very sore issue for me, but Jack has done just fine in the transition thank goodness!  I am now the one having some separation anxieties, but oh well, what can you do, I guess...life must go on.
It must be said though, that I AM still making every single bit of his solid foods fresh though!!  So yeaaaaahhhhh for me as I toot my horn :)
After his breakfast bottle, he has cereal mixed with a full serving of fresh fruit, then he has a double veggie with lunch, and a double fruit or veggie with dinner.
He likes bananas, pears, and apples the best for fruits and peas and carrots the best for veggies.

SLEEPING: through the night, every single night, yo.  No cause for complaints here!  He even naps when we want him to and goes to bed when we want him to.  Yes, he's a dream child.  Physically and metaphorically speaking.

PERSONALITY: He is the sweetest, most mild-mannered, funny, little ball of charisma ever!  He's our little social butterfly and will turn up and on the charm for whomever we encounter.  Even if he has a bad moment, he's back to good in 10 second flat and only fusses (very briefly) if he's tired or hungry.  It's literally that easy with him. Doesn't fuss for any other reason and we are counting our blessings with what a sweetheart we have in our lives.  He is truly breathtaking, awe-inspiring, and delightful.

FUN FACTS: Jackman has a tiny freckle-like birthmark under his chin; he still has a half-innie/ half outie belly button that is oh-so-very cute and unique; he is mild-mannered like his Daddy and Mamaw, but he is silly, full of himself, and very social like his Mommy and his Poppy.  He really is just the best thing ever and we are so lucky!  Jack also has to have his "monk-monk" and "owl-baby" with him wherever he goes; can be a bit lazy with the baths -- even though he can sit up just fine on his own and even has his own bath seat, he'd much rather lay back on his old newborn bath prop and let us do the work while he relaxes in his little "spa"...little stubborn stinker!
On another note, everywhere we go, people comment on what a beautiful, happy, charismatic, and good baby we have and I could not be more proud!  He truly is a sensational little fella and so "go with the flow" and captivates the world around him; I cannot wait to see what lies ahead in the future for him!

Chicken Little

I cannot believe our child has finally experienced his very first Halloween....eeeee!  Growing up, we always LOVED Halloween!  It was so much fun to get dressed up, to decorate, go to haunted houses, and to go trick-or-treating!!!  But of course, my little Booooooooskie was sick :(

Poor baby.  Mom called me Tuesday while I was at school to let me know that he had a fever of 100ish and asked what I wanted to do.  I'm sure I can speak for any mother when I say that I wanted to be with my sweet baby more than anything, but knowing he was in good hands, I sent kisses and well wishes (and tears on my end) and went about my day.  I mean, it's no big deal, really...kids get fevers for a plethora of reasons so I was none to concerned...

That is, until I remembered that he had been exposed to another sickness the previous weekend and got a little worried!  With alternating rounds of ibuprofen and acetaminophen, his fever was only increasing, never breaking.  Tuesday night, he was just pitiful...most definitely not our charismatic, silly little ball of hilarity that we're used to.  He just wanted to lay on my shoulder...no playing, no interacting with Daddy or toys...nothing.  He slept through the night, though, so we sent him on over to my parents' (in his Halloween jammies, nonetheless), but all day Wednesday, same story as Tuesday.  Crap, we thought.  The way he was holding his mouth and chewing on everything, everyone was certain it as just teething, but in good conscience, I still just couldn't let him be around his BFF, Holden, as we had planned and just dressed him in his chicken costume and handed out candy with the Carpenters.

ANYWAY, even though he was under the weather, he was still just the most chipper little buddy and was happy as can be in his chicken outfit as the pictures show below.  Our Halloween was everything I had imagined it would be, even with a sick chick. It certainly has a new meaning with a little one of your own and I look forward to fun years ahead!  Our guy was smiley, he was happy, and he did not fuss once.  Yes, with a fever over 100, he was as smiley and non-fussy as can be!   On that note, it must be said that I absolutely cannot stand the idea of taking my 7month old child around house-to-house to trick-or-treat because OBVIOUSLY, the candy is not for him, but for his parents and well, I think that is silly.  I am not that hard up for treats that I have to put on a big show and get it from others...I will buy it for myself thank you...and something better than dollar store caramels, pennies, and toothbrushes.  Psychos.  I am none too kind to the crazies who ring my doorbell in the same capacity and expect stellar service.  The jig is up...you have a child.  I got some Gerber rice cereal and teething cookies if you'd rather.  Oh, HE/SHE doesn't like those?  Umm yea, get a life. Thanks.

Sidenote, B and my mom took him to the doctor today (momma's instincts, I guess...I just kept feeling there was something else to it besides just teething) and sure enough, he has an ear infection.  Poor little buddy...but he's quite the little trooper...no chicken about things at all...well, I guess you could say, he's a tough ol' bird!

Here are bunches of pics of our chicken and some of the peeps from his coop on his very first Halloween!  There even a video of his very first taste of a sucker :)
